The city of Ascoli and the entire Piceno area feature numerous examples of the Liberty style that, in the early 20th century, also heavily influenced the Marche region. Until now, this significant part of the cultural heritage of Piceno has not been the subject of particular communication and enhancement initiatives. Hence, the idea of creating a guide for digital devices, which – allowing visitors to choose their own pace and stops – offers the opportunity to explore and discover the manifestations of this European modern style in Piceno: from visual arts to fabrics, from ceramics to interiors, reaching the major arts such as painting and architecture with the magnificent examples of villas along the Adriatic coast. In addition to providing information and insights about the works included in the tour, the guide aims to offer access to a series of images and documents on Liberty style in the Marche region and the artistic production of the authors featured in the tour. The itinerary consists of a few stops that the tourist can choose to follow along the “main” route or create their own based on the suggestions and inspirations the guide will provide: a journey through a time gone by, whose traces we can still find today in the streets, on the facades of buildings, and in the cafés of Ascoli Piceno.
